I had just lost my loving dog/best friend of 8 years and hubby knew I was brokenhearted. I have MS and am home alone all day...I know hubby was afraid that I'd 'give up' and that I needed something to keep me going, so he insisted that I get whatever kind of dog I wanted.

I know he wasn't keen on a little dog..not at all....but, like I said, he'd do anything at that time to put a smile on my face. We got Topher and he IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the little guy. After a few weeks I even brought up the topic of getting another one and he didn't disagree! I couldn't believe it! (He's the one talking about it more and more now!)

Make sure you give hubby and the pup time alone together for that bond to happen. I'm finding now that Topher is becoming more and more hubby's dog as hubby is the one who walks him every evening.

(oh...one little side note...if hubby is a neat freak, make sure you keep the bathroom door closed and put all magazines and paper items out of reach as I've learned that these little guys have an affinity to paper products of just about any kind! ) This picture was taken after Topher quietly snuck into the bathroom and 'attacked' an evil roll of toilet tissue! Thank heavens he was there to protect us! lol

Good luck with your new baby
