I'm doing a combination with mine, and I'm wondering the same thing. They go real well when I take them out, but they do not ask to go out. I've been thinking about how to eliminate the pads.

I haven't come up with a solution yet, exccept maybe to do a weekend bootcamp, I've also considered a doggie door.

I have never liked the crate method, I could not stand to have them crying. When I'm home I want them with me. They are confined to the kitchen, but between the kitchen and outside that is where I spend the majority of the day. At night they sit on my lap, or play at my feet here in the computer room.
