We have a lab and a yorkie and they get along great. Actually we have two other big dogs and our lab is the most gentle with the yorkie. He is also the one who puts up with the most. I had my lab first though so he was a couple years old when we got Reagan and out of his puppy stage. Lab puppies are very playful and they probably won't realize that they can hurt the little dog so you just want to be careful of that, but that would be the same with any big dog. I love my lab (as well as all my other dogs too) and could brag about labs all day long. I say let the hubby have a lab.
