No, there is no odor because the ends are sealed shut. It is a piece of PVC pipe cut to length of the pup then there are end caps put. First you clean both the outside of the pipe and the inside of the cap. Then you use a sealer glue for PVC, put one end on and hold it for a few seconds until it sets up and it's permemently sealed. Then repeat the process on the other end. It is sealed up tight, no smell can escape.
