Many breeds CAN be vicious. They are bred for protection. HOWEVER, it really is up to responsible breeders and even more responsible owners to keep these dogs under control. Unfortunately, most do not. In fact, I had a neighbor once who specifically encouraged the vicious side of her dogs. Said she liked a "macho" dog. Her dogs killed every cat in the neighborhood, as well as my ferret. They ran free and terrorized everyone.
When she lived with us for a year, my grandaughter got a Pit Bull/Brittany Spaniel outcross. He was the sweetest, smartest, most loving cuddler! He accepted Pogo as the Alpha Dog and never gave us a problem. But he also had LOTS AND LOTS of loving attention and training. |
