We started feeding puppy food moistened with water and mushed up at about 4 1/2 weeks along with momma's milk. They are 6 weeks old today and eating dry kibbles on their own. They steal a sip or two from momma still, but their teeth are coming in so that will end soon. It's good for them to stay with momma as she teaches them things as well. We're keeping ours 10-12 weeks. All the boys are good size already, and our girl is petite. Ours seem to piddle pad train automatically. They get out of their bed and go on it as soon as they wake up. When we get them out of the Xpen to play, they use the pad out of the pen as well. I think it's good to train them to use the pads at first since they go so often it's hard to get them outside each and everytime. Good luck with your babies.
