Default How to Access YorkieTalk Chat

Here are a few ways to access YorkieTalk Chat:

The first way is the simplest, just click the Chat button under the main banner, or click here:

http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/javachat.php

It will automatically bring you to the YorkieTalk chat room.

-----
The second method is by using JPilot. Click on the link below:

http://www.jpilot.com/chat.html

Then enter the following:

Nick Name: Choose a nickname, maybe add a number to the end of the nickname if you are choosing a popular name like Chris

Channel: no need to change this

Real Name: no need to change this

Server name: Make sure you change this to irc.prison.net by clicking on the dropdown box and changing the server name

Server Port: no need to change this

Then click the Green Arrow key. After it says you have entered the chat room, type the following:

/join #yorkietalk

and you will be in the YorkieTalk chat room.

The third method is by using mIRC, a chat program for PCs. Mac users can use similar IRC chat programs such as Snak. Here is the guide on that:

First, get mIRC from http://www.mIRC.com and download it to your own computer. mIRC is a PC-only program, there is a similar program called Snak for Macs. It is a free program!

Okay, install the program and then run it. It should pop up a Options Window. Here's what you can put in:

Full name, just put in your your YorkieTalk username
Email address: anything works, no one can see your email address

Nickname: put in your YorkieTalk username (maximum of nine characters)
Alternative: put in an alternative username (like user2) (maximum of nine characters)
Check the Invisible Mode box

Now click OK.

Now you are in the Status window. Type in '/server irc.efnet.org' without the '

It will pop up a mIRC Favorites box. Type in #yorkietalk and click the Join button

(Alternatively, if that server does not work, you can try '/server irc.prison.net' or '/server irc.qeast.net' to get onto the YorkieTalk chat network).

Voila, you are now in Chat! And you can still browse YorkieTalk at the same time! When you see a Web link posted in chat, just double-click the link, and it will open in your Internet browser. Enjoy!

Remember that there are times in YorkieTalk chat where no one may be talking. Please wait a few minutes, or come back at another time when there may be some people actively chatting.

Please let us know if you have any questions or where anything doesn't make sense. Enjoy the chat!
