Spend some time with the puppy at the store. I think you can tell if its general health, activity, and playfulness appear normal. If the puppy takes to you and you really like -- get it - take it to a vet immediately for a well puppy check up.... (the store should allow you to return it if there are any serious problems) and if it's fine - you have a new loveable little Yorkie.

My pup came from a family-owned pet store (no puppymill dogs - in fact, I have corresponded with the owner and have received pictures of my pup's parents).

A lot of people here admit to having gotten healthy, loveable little pups from pet stores. Of course, we don't want to encourage puppymills - but at the same time, how can you leave a little guy sitting there at the store? I think this is a personal decision - and certainly not one that should be criticized.

Good luck! Carol Jean
