He will soon become acustomed to his crate and enjoy it as his little haven.
It takes time but just remember not to remove him while he is crying. As this only reinforces to him that if he cries he get's attention and can be taken out of his crate.
Hang in there, it does get better.
Schatzie is almost a year and at times she whimpers still in her crate.
