Silkies Hi there. Here in NZ they're called australian or sydney silkies cos they were originally bred in Sydney, Australia, by crossing Australian terriers with Yorkies. Silkies got recognised as an official separate breed ages ago. A good dog encyclopaedia will give you all the good points of each breed. Yorkies are generally smaller, softer coated and have round baby doll faces. But they are both terriers and have terrier instincts and terrier energy levels. Your local library might also have books on different breeds. I find a little research goes a long way when researching a breed. Cos every breed has its downside as well as lovely side! |
