Collapses Trachea?!! God I hope not. We just got little Lacy about two weeks ago. She is now ten weeks old. We took her in for her check-up two days after we got her and the vet assured us that she was totally fine and gave her an intranasal bordatella vaccination(kennel cough). After we had her for a few more days, we started to notice that she was periodically coughing, and even sneezing sometimes. We kind of decided that she had allergies or something, but the cough was rather unnerving. They usually come about 3 or 4 at a time, particularly after exercise or excitement. She sounds like she is choking on something huge, but there's nothing. It's like a little hack or gag, almost like a hairball cough in a cat. I looked up what it could possibly be and the only things I found were collapsed trachea or kennel cough. Considering she just got the vaccine for kennel cough and she hasn't been in a kennel or groomers, I assume it's not that (though maybe she got it from the vaccine). Collapsed trachea is what I'm worried about, because the symptoms match. She has a vet appointment tomorrow. Is this a common thing? How bad is it if she has it? I hope she doesn't have to struggle with it her whole life. I know there isn't any real cure though. Other than the coughing, she seems perfectly fine. She is eating, peeing, pooping, sleeping, and playing normally and is a totally happy puppy. She learned sit and come in two days. I really really just want her to be healthy. |
