I would imagine that your larger dog is neutered .... and, neutered males often make wonderful serrogate mothers.. They are especially nice with little puppies.

The only thing you need to do is watch them carefully in the beginning - make sure your first dog feels extra loved, and let a week or two pass. I'm sure they will become best friends.

I have never had a problem bringing another pet into my house. I don't allow anyone to be "naughty" and sometimes not immediately, but soon they have all become friends quickly.

I will tell you that a little puppy can make life hell for another - even larger dog. My Yorkie totally drove my 21-pound, 4-year-old Bichon crazy and still does. It is really just his energy and playfulness that is responsible for this. My Bichon is a gentle guy - but he really got the short end of the stick. I have to put him on my bed and close the door once in a while -- just so he can get a "break."

Good luck - Carol Jean
