I have a small Peke that has colitis, hospitalized last year with a major arttack. We went for a consultation at another vet since after improved, another relapse afterwards. He told us that Metronidazole for life and also Gastrafate, animal version of Sucralfate for humans. It can only be obtained through a vet. If you need more info on manafacturer, pm me. My regular vet had never heard of it but gets it for me. A special diet is neccessary, we do a home made one because it's the only way to avoid another attack with our Peke, no attacks so far with this routine, no treats either.
Hope Gracie continues to improve.
