  My sperience has been that the temp will drop rather suddenly and within 12-24 hours labor can start but the temp goes back up. You might think something else is wrong but that is nature's way of providing warmth in the environment and for the milk. The puppys need to be kept as close to 100 degrees as possible. So, have a stack of warm washcloths and clamps or dental floss for the cord. Maybe you have already asked all about the whelping kit. Sorry.Warm dry babies are more likely to survive..
