I hold off until 6 months for the rabies, but my dogs are not exposed to others. Also, never get the puppy shot and the rabies shot at the same time.
You might want to consider holding off on the neuter until 7 months if your puppy is retaining baby teeth so you could have those extracted and the neutering done at the same time and not have to put him under twice (plus you can save some money). Also always have the preop blood work done and make sure they use isoflurane gas for induction with no pre-anesthesia injection. Also consider getting him microchipped at this time.
Does 2.9 mean almost 3 pounds or 2 pounds 9 oz? I would guess about 5 pounds, but you really never know. I've heard of dogs weighing this and growing over 10 pounds and I have heard of dogs weighing this and never gaining another ounce. |
