Angry Snail Killer Murders Yorkie

Please, please, please. Don't let your Yorkie anywhere near snail poison or snail bait. My six year old Penelope passed away last week thanks to our gardener. He had been warned, knew Penelope, but he used it mixed into the soil around new plantings.

I had Penelope to our Vet within 20 minutes of when the symptoms started. They are usually severe tremors. Many dogs survive but it all depends on their size and how much they consumed.

Most of the snail killers contain metaldehyde. It is a killer, one teaspoon per 10 lbs of dog is toxic. There is no antidote. Penelope fought to the end. But on my god, it was awful. The tremors and seizures, the IV's, valium, xrays, oxygen cage, her temperature spiking at over 105. I held her in my arms as she died. I swear, I don't know if I will ever get over the grief!

Please don't let it happen to your baby. There are lots of safe ways to get rid of snails. Sluggo, copper foil, beer in a little trap sold at the store, or just pick the darn things up and throw them away.
