I think some big dogs like to be outside,and its ok to let them stay out,providing they are properly cared for with the type of bedding and runs,kennels, that they need water food attention, etc... BUT, I also think when harsh weather arives such as a very hot day, they should be brought in the house,whether the dog wants to come in or not for its safety, and they should have free run of a kennel of some type, NOT chains or ties. But, most of all I believe no dog should be outside in the winter months at all except to use the potty. The reason for this is 12 years ago when we first bought our house, the neighbors accross the ally had 2 white German Shepards,they left outside 24/7 and a really bad winter came along. I tried to call animal welfare and they said they would be out to check on them. They never came.... The poor dogs were found frozen to death the next morning. The people moved out shortly after this happened,so I dont know if they got into trouble or not.Our animal welfare here is a joke to say the least.
