There are 3 bands in case one breaks - I only use ONE band on the bows with multiples.
I'd suggest trying some El Cheapo bands first -
www.petedge.com has great inexpensive bows that you can toss after they wear out. I bought 2 boxes of 50 and I still have some left. They're really easy to put in and get out.
