| LiL Moe Hello all this is Dez, LiL Moe's Mommy! I thought I would introduce ourselves and tell a bit about Moe.I am 36 and Live in the North East UK, I am originally from the USA, don't ask me where I am from as I was a traveller most all my life in the USA, I was a child of the state and grew up quick, went out on my own at 14.I have lived here in the UK with my husband since 2002 .I have always been an advocate for animals , all creatures great and small....I am the lady the kids brought injured or lost or abused animals to, I have always been the guardian of the "underdaog" so to speak. I have 10 pets right now, all save the birds are a rescue of one sort or another. We have Sassy , a 3 year old border collie , who was destined for the river in a potato sack, as she and 3 of her sibblings were chose to make the litter smaller. Her mother tess was a highly prized working sheep dog out here, and the farmer did not want to lose her to the extremely large litter.I saved Sassy though I couldn't save the others it was too late. Then there is 2 bunnies, both house bunnies and trained, though they do have indoor hutches.I have a guinea pig named Bob, he is blind in one eye and was being tortured by all the other pigs and rabbits at the pet store, so I promptly took him to the safety of our home.I have Stuart Little, he is my white rat, he was just a baby when we got him, he too was being tortured at a pet store but this time by kids, they would go intot he pet store and terrify him constantly, so him being just tiny and no one at the store protecting him, I took him to his new little haven.I have Teddy dog, he is my Whipet, Lab mix, he is an RSPCA rescue dog...he and his brother were beaten and starved from being puppies , the original owners were drug dealers and wanted to make them into mean savages to protect thier stash, well the RSPCA saved them and said to me they were so far gone they almost put them down.I am glad they didn't as Teddy is such a lovely dog with a wonderful nature. We then come to the 4 birds, Joey and Percy were my husbands before we met, and then there is Saphire and Berty, they are my 2 budgies. Finally last but absolutly not least at all we have LiL Moe! I have wanted a Yorkie for longer than I could ever say, and after meeting Dougal Dog my in laws 16 year old Yorkie, passed away now, I just knew for the pet I choose instead of it choosing me....I wanted a Yorkie.I began looking at the different breeders in the area and asking around, and there were no available pups in my area.....then I began thinking of a rescued Yorkie from a shelter, so I began looking into that. There were a few out there, but already spoken for, or there were a few but they had to be in only pet homes....so I continued looking. Then one day I called a breeder back to check if there would be any future pups to be on a list for.She told me I was in luck.A breeder she knew in a nearby town had just taken on another breeders pups as the breeder himself had had a stroke and may die, they were good friends and she was handling the homing of the pups for him.I called this lady and asked her if she had the pups still, and originally I wanted a female....I even had her name already "precious"..she informed me the girl and a boy were already taken and all that was left was one boy.I asked her if we could come see it, and she said yes, so we drove dirrectly over there.I was impressed at first her yard was full of yorkie statues and her dore was adorned with yorkie stuff too, inside her very lovely home was yet more yorkie mad stuff, and pictures of champions she had shown and ribbons everywhere! I thought wow this breeder is totally into the yorkie. Then I noticed for all the yorkie adornment there wasn't a yorkie to be seen in her home, only chiuahuas, I asked her about this and she said she was switching breeds. Then we went to see Moe.He was cordoned off in her kitchen with nothing but a paper, no blankie no pillow...where was his comfies?I had my husband look him over first as he has had the most yorkie knowledge with Doogle dog and a few others....Moe was so tiny and so friendly and outgoing.I noticed though...his ears were so red and swollen his eyes bugged out worse than a pugs and I just knew, something didn't feel right.I pretended to hug him to my face and listened to his chest, so very raspy and congested.....not good....and his right front paw had 2 nails growing sideways instead of straight....I asked her about this other breeder who fell ill, and she said his wife was the breeder but she died of a heart attack when these were born, and he was not the dog person, but did his best until they were weaned, around which time he had the stroke and this lady took over for him.I asked if there was a contact for him, she said no he was in hospital possibly dying....I asked who has the parents, she said another breeder, so I asked how we might see the parents, she said there was no way to, as she didn't know how to contact the other breeder.I thought fishy fishy, she had told me he had papers, so i asked to see them....they were papers you order yourself online for dogs with no pedigree....hmmmm.I asked how much she wanted for this LiL guy seeigs how from the start he would need immediate Vet care, she said he was £260....and that he was fit as a fiddle nothing wrong with him.....IS SHE INSAINE!?! Does she not see how red and swollen his ears are, how bugged out his eyes are?! Can she not hear the raspy chest? I kept thinking and looking at him and then came to the choice, I had to take him, he would be my rescue Yorkie, I knew he was farmed, I knew she wasn't being honest, and I knew he would die without care....so £260 was a small fee for his life.We have loved him ever since and that was Nov 2005.He has too many problems to count, so far knock on wood nothing life threatening....but I am quite aware of his chances with is background.I give LiL Moe the chance to have the best little life he can, and be Loved and cared for as he should....he isn't the female show dog starlette I had invisioned, far from it, but I Love him and do you know why...he makes me smile, and laugh, he makes me happier than I have been in years, as you see I am not perfect and I have been very ill for years, and this little doggy with all his imperfections has pulled me out of my gloom and brought me a little piece of sunshine!
