Silicone was used on horses before it was used on dogs reason being, it seals the hair follicle, which is why it makes the coat so shiny and keeps it clean for such a long time. The problem is it can build up in the hair and because it seals the shaft, it prevents the hair from getting moisture, so it can’t be left in the coat. It will ultimately dry out the coat and damage it if left in there. So when you first start using it, you get terrific results but it will slowly “turn” against you.

Horse show people use it in the horses coats on show day and then immediately wash it out when they get home. I have never used this sho-glo but from the sound of it, it may have silicone in it. I’d check the ingredients to be sure.
Personally, I keep to non silicone based products such as Plush Puppy Reviva coat, and Swishy Coat which add shine but don’t use Silicone to cut down hair breakage (Penny has such a fine coat, we need all the hair we can get!).
