I agree with water method Lucky for me Moe only barks when there is actually a reason to bark, knock on door, cat in yard ect....but we also have a 3 year old border collie , which if you ever had one you will know this breed is very vocal, and will bark at you in attempts at conversation.I use the water method on Sassy for just such an ocassion, if she is outside and barking at nothing.....I open the second floor window and pour a cup of water over her....she stops and is shocked at the whole event she don't bark again , as the water may fall from the sky again.Inside a spray in the face or on the butt is good and they do get the message...unless your dogs one of those terriers like Ben is and is crazy for water....he actually attacks the stream of water from spray bottels , faucet taps, any source...so water wouldn't be a deterent for a dog like that. You may find you just have a talkative dog...and this is just who she is..this is the case with Sassy and we have to only deter her when she gets out of hand with the barking. |
