When you are busy with your 2 yr old and household chores and can't keep an eye on your pup you should put him in a xpen with his pee pads and toys and his bed. Having free run of the house is a sure way of him/her going potty anywhere he wants. I have been lucky with Toby (I got him when he was 5 months old and now he is 6 mos. and was using a pee pad at the breeders) I didn't let him out of my sight and after a few weeks he is now potty trained in a litter box which I had in his pen close by in the living room that is opened all day for him to go and come as he pleases. I feed him there and have his wired crate in there too. I bought a shower curtain to lay on the floor in the pen, works real well and easy to wash. It does take a constant watching otherwise accidents do happen. Good Luck
