You should do what you feel is right in your heart, and yes it maybe sad for you, but you might be doing her the right thing, and if you know that is it right for her, then you should let her go...i dont think they ever forget you...they will always remember those who are good to them..
It is hard to do the right thing when it comes to an animal, i had an old boy he was just a mix breed, and i know that it is diffrent, but he was old, he 3 husge fits one after the other, he went blind, deaf and could hardley walk, that was in the june...i had to have him put to sleep...and i kept him going for my sake....i did not want to let him go...he was a resue dog, my brother stole him from a farm...because the farmer use to beat him with a stick, all because his legs was deformed a bit...
I know now that i should have taken him in the june, and done what was best for him...it is so hard to let them go...but you will know in your heart what is right for him...you can always stay in touch, and visit, and get pics, and send treats, he wont forget you...
