Are you going to see the puppy a few times before you buy him/her or are you going to buy him the first time you see him? If you buy him after you have seen him a couple of times then this is what you could do. On your very first visit take a towel with you and rub it over the puppy to get the puppy's scent on it. Do the same with your dog. Switch towels or atleast give your dog the towel with the puppy's scent on it. This will get your dog use to the scent so that when you bring the pup home it will be some what familiar to him. When you bring the pup home you can let them interact with each other as long as you are supervising them. Watch your dog's reaction and body language to see what your dog thinks of the pup. You should be able to tell whether your dog is delited to have the new pup or if he is not to crazy about the idea. You shoulden't have any problems just remember to keep a close eye on them. : )
