I'm with you, but on the opposite end. My husband's family never drove. When he was 17 he rode his bike to the DMV, took his test and got himself a car. Now, he thinks our son should have to pay for his own car and insurance. I think it's totally unreasonable, especially with the costs today. Insurance alone is $4000. He is of the "no one gave me anything" school. I, on the other hand, feel my sons "job" is to do well in school. He'll have a part time job to pay for gas, but even that is a stretch. He thinks I'm spoiling him. I think he's being an idiot. I think I'm winning this one, but it bugs me that it even has to be a discussion.
Sometimes you just want to smack them upside the head, don't you?
