You know - if we had large dogs that went to the bathroom outside --we wouldn't be examining their stools with a fine tooth comb everytime they went to the bathroom.. I think it's unfortunate that so many of us do this -- when more often than not, there is never any problem at all. Animal's stools change occasionally depending on the amount of exercise they've had, the amount of fluids they have had, and the food they have eaten...as well as many other causes. And dogs, like us, get an upset stomach or diarrhea occasionally.... More often than not, even this is "here today - gone tomorrow.:

I would be paying more attention to my puppy's demeanor. Is he happy, playful, eating well, etc. This should be our prime indicator as far as the puppy is feeling.

If a pup's stool changes, and remains abnormal for more than a day or two, I think it might be time to watch him more closely ---especially, if he doesn't appear to be feeling well. Then it is probably the time to visit the vet.

Good luck - you "stool gazers."
