If you check the ingrediants on the bags, you will see, in the better quality foods, there is very little difference between the puppy food and adult food. I'm feeding my new 4 mo old pup Solid Gold adult food because the ingrediants are the same as the puppy food and my picky eater, Rowdy, will eat the adult food and I don't want to chnge him to puppy and since i free feed, all mine have to eat the same thing. i fed a senior dog puppy food when Rowdy was a pup and senior dog was just fine. - not recommending that you all do the same, but my experience was OK.

I talked with my locally owned pet store that carries HIGH quality natural food and they confirmed that often, there is not much/any difference in adult and puppy food. Puppy food is sometimes higher in protein, but the better foods seem to have higher protein in the adult foods too. I've questioned many about the higher protein being bad for kidneys - and get conflicting answers.
