Awwww...poor baby. I hate to say this but Chanel LOVES storms - she has to do her Yippppeeeeeeeee RUN thru the yard during every rain storm and chase raindrops. I keep a towel right next to the door.
For your little guy - I'd try to stay away from medicating him....
I would hold him and make a game out of the thunder. When I hear really loud ones - I'll clap my hands and act like it's a game - that's helped calmed my girls right down and they're not scared of it at all anymore. BUT...if you cuddle him too much and act scared - he may play off that and be even more scared.
The other thing is just to distract him - Play with a toy or something and act totally normal - They sense our feelings and if YOU act normal - maybe he'll feel better....
and thanks for the warning - We are in a tornado watch right now and Miss Chanel is soaked to the skin after racing thru the yard in glee.
