Default Question...

I have a male and a female that are mating. She came into heat, and I have caught them in the "act" at least 3 times in the past two days. I know it is not good to have him continue to mate with her at different times in her heat because the pups can be conceived at different time, correct? Is now the time to separate them and just wait and see? I know people have said to mate them every other day for a week, but it is so difficult when they live together, and they are constantly crying to be together. How long do I need to keep them apart?
