The 'meat byproducts' that go into commercial pet foods include such things as:

Hair
Toenails
Intrails
Congealed fat
Hooves
Primarily, 'byproducts' of slaughter houses not suitable for human consumption. Now, the hooves and intrails are actually not bad for your pooch - when fed FRESH. But, by the time they're 'processed' and sit on a shelf in the congealed fat - well. Plus commercially prepared dog foods contain 'fillers' that just take up space in a pet's stomache - not delivering any nutrition at all.

Treats: It's fairly simple to make one's own liver treats. Buy a beef liver. While it's still frozen, cut into treat-size pieces, and bag up so the pieces don't touch and stick together. Refreeze. Voila'! FRESH preservative-free liver treats for pooch. Or, do a search on dehydrating liver. You can do this in your oven.
Cool, thanks for the liver treat info! I might just have to try that.

PS. So you do this raw and feed frozen?
