The 'meat byproducts' that go into commercial pet foods include such things as:[list][*]Hair[*]Toenails [*]Intrails[*]Congealed fat[*]Hooves[/list]Primarily, 'byproducts' of slaughter houses not suitable for human consumption. Now, the hooves and intrails are actually not bad for your pooch - when fed FRESH. But, by the time they're 'processed' and sit on a shelf in the congealed fat - well. Plus commercially prepared dog foods contain 'fillers' that just take up space in a pet's stomache - not delivering any nutrition at all. Treats: It's fairly simple to make one's own liver treats. Buy a beef liver. While it's still frozen, cut into treat-size pieces, and bag up so the pieces don't touch and stick together. Refreeze. Voila'! FRESH preservative-free liver treats for pooch. Or, do a search on dehydrating liver. You can do this in your oven. |
