I had a Sheltie that had a horrifying non-stop bark when I wasn't home. My husband HATED her because of it. I explored de-barking, and when I found out what they did, I refused to have it done. To keep the peace in my family, we eventually re-homed Betsy with my sister. She was home all the time, and Betsy did not bark as much because she got major attention.
