I use both. The only thing with barrettes is you still need the hairband to make it stay. kind of like putting your hair in a ponytail first, then putting a bow in your head. If you're looking for an easy way to get the banded bows out, use a small pair of scissors and just cut the band off. Granted, that's if you have a lot of bows. lol I make my own banded so I always have tons and it doesn't make such a loss for me if I cut them out. That and I can always redo the band. You can always buy the super small bands from a store that you would use on yourself. they'rea lot easier to get out and work great to put the hair of first before putting the barrette in.
