I don't think Yorkies look like rats but I too have had my brother in law call my Lucy a little rat! I was offended at first but he wasn't really saying it out of spite so I let it go. I think people say things like that about small dogs because they just don't get them, the idea of a small dog, I mean. They don't understand why people have them or veiw them as dogs. To be honest if you asked me 10 yrs ago if I would ever have a small dog, I would have said no way but people change and now I wonder why I didn't have a Yorkie earlier. Now I just want more lol. Also too, maybe people have the idea to call small dogs rats because they were used as ratters?( dogs who were used to catch rats). Anyhow it still is really rude that they didn't keep their opinions to themselves! As a small dog, I think Yorkies are one of THE most beautiful, friendly, cute furballs.
