a little confused - you say the insulin paid off - insulin is given when the blood sugar is too high (as in diabetes). Did you mean to say glucose as needed for low blood sugar? if the baby has low blood sugar then you need to be giving him nutrical or nutristat 3 x a day, feed him 4 times a day, don't let him get cold or overstressed or overtired or it can bring on a hypoglycemic episode. Usually by 4 months they have grown out of this, but it's always handy to have around if they don't eat or develop diarrhea.
of course, if he does have high blood sugar as in diabetes - you would not give nutrical.
