I'm in the process of training an 18 week old puppy, so I, by no means, have any "perfect" answers. But I have gotten lots and lots of great advice from members here. One idea was to put the pad in something that has sides and a back so that the puppy has the sense of entering an enclosed space. Another idea was to use a wee wee pad holder. They are made of plastic and can be bought at Petsmart or Drs. Foster and Smith. We haven't been successful with the one from Petsmart which comes apart easily. I understand the one from Drs. Foster and Smith is sturdier. I'm actually thinking of buying it. Another thought is to use a plastic boot tray under the pad to protect your carpet. If you find great success using a particular method, I hope you share your method.
