You guys may or may not remember, I posted about this a few weeks ago.

I will just refresh everyone on the post quickly. Ethan my son is 9 years old and high functioning autistic. He has since around Thanksgiving had sensory issues on his face. He has burnt hisself 4 or 5 times from November through March.

I took him to see his dr. and he was of no help. I met with his teacher and a lady that works for the county who just happens to be a social worker. I also took him back to the rehab facility for he was getting Speech and OT to be evaluated again for sensory intergration. We are in the process of doing some exercises to help him with his sensory issues and if this doesn't work then I will be calling a psychologists to see about possible therapy.

Anyway, I got a call on the 10th or 11th of this month from the locals DCFS and a report had been filed about Ethan's face. She didn't come to the house until the 17th and then I was told that the person that reported it said they weren't concerned about abuse but, were concerned that possibly Ethan wasn't being watched as closely as he should be. Needless to say I almost hit the floor. This woman that was sitting across my kitchen table from me in my house couldn't have been more the 24 or 25 years old with no children. I didn't say what I was thinking.

She proceeded to ask me if their was any domestic abuse, history of abuse in my family, history of mental illness in my family, if I ever left Ethan alone, how I disciplined him, if I was here to see him off to school and to meet him when he got home, if we had any beer in the house(my husband may drink a 6 pack in a week) , if I let him cook by himself. Of course the answer to all of the above was NO!!!!

I still couldn't believe that I was going through this. It was really quite humilitating. But, like I told my husband we hadn't done anything wrong so I wasn't worried about it. She told us that she was going to tell her supervisor that she thought that there was nothing to worry about and that it may just be a phase that Ethan is going through. She said that in 30 days we would receive a letter from her telling us whether it was closed or not. She was going to recommend that it be closed at the end of the 30 days. She had already spoken with Ethan the morning she called me, with his teacher present. His teacher told me that he told her the same things that he had told us. He first burnt his face on a lava lamp that was in his room and I immediately threw it away. Then about 4 - 6 weeks later he burnt his cheekbone right under his eye on our heater, then a few days later he was popping popcorn and when he got it out of the microwave(this is the only cooking he does on his own) he touched it to his mouth, then a few weeks after that he touched his mouth to out toaster oven. This being the last one.

After some paperwork and a quick look in the fridge, pantry and Ethan's bedroom she had to make sure we had plenty of food and that he had a bed.

I still can't believe that someone reported us for this but, I can understand why. I will just be glad when the 30 days are over with.

Anyway, sorry this is so long. I just wanted to update everyone. This is one reason why I haven't been on much in the last few weeks.
