I currently rent a 2 story townhome. The only reason I'm still there is becaue I don't feel like moving into another rental and I haven't found a house in my price range that is screaming, "buy me!" I like the part about not having people that live above me. I am also on an end unit so I only have people that live beside me. The problem I have with renting a townhome (or an apartment) is that if you are fortunate to find a community that accepts pets, there are many people around you that also have pets and are often inconsiderate pet owners. People don't pick up after their pets, they leave them run off-leash (dogs and cats) which I don't necessarily have a problem with however, if they are off-leash and keep terrorizing my babies on a daily basis, I get a bit annoyed. Especially when the terms of the pet agreement are clearly violated constantly and nothing is done about it. Not having to maintain the property is certainly a great thing however, after living where I currently do, I am looking forward to having a yard of my own--even though i HATE yard work
