Sorry this is a little long but I want to tell you my experiences... Not all people will agree as some people have positive results or the schools would not still be open...but this is what happened to me...I am not trying to scare you but I hope this helps a little:
I went to
KAPLAN for a while which was my first online school. I got all A's on my first semester (I even made the Deans List) which there which was too easy because most of my work was based on what I learned papers (My written opinions...there was no challenge!). The problems for me started the second semester...They kept blocking me out of my classes because they mixed me up with another student with the same name according to them so because of not being able to login to class much I failed. I was then told I could repeat the same classes no extra charge (I should have gotten that in writing)!!! The same thing happened 2 more semesters but during the 3rd time they got really mean about it blaiming me!!! It was a bad system to repeatedly mix me up with someone else! Later they kicked me out of the school and began billing me (oh and financial aid was supposed to cover everything)! The reasons for the bills was supposedly because I only took one class one term...I never took less than 2! I am still fighting with them over that one!
My second school was
FMU (Florida Metropolitan University:
That school is almost impossible to pass unless you get an easy class! No one ever answered my calls (well never returned them...until I left). There is a thing called group teamwork projects. If people don't participate and you have an A in the work each week you lose 25% of your over all grade. By the end of those first classes I went from an A+ to and F because No one participated in my projects but me and the only way I would have passed the class was to do extra credit work which was only going to bring my grade up to a D-.
I left that school and went to
AIU (American International University) which by the way is owned by a company of people who were charged with money scams on another Atlanta Georgia school!!! They just use different people to front the company...go to the website I later mention and you can read a little about that! AIU is sooo easy to get accepted I think a monkey could get in!!! Literally! I made a mess of the enterance quiz and they praised me for it...as if I was they student they wanted and I was sooo smart and tallented...it was sooo stupid (what I wrote was confusing and made my dad laugh...In part because you write things in different areas and it autofills it in the paper. I was later told my advisor re-wrote my paper before turning it in...so the copy I had was not the copy the review board had...weird stuff!!!)
Now this school is just messed up! They just plain lied to me. I told them if financial aid didn't cover them completely I didn't want to start the classes there! The day classes started they told me I was covered completely and to login. One week went by then they called me and said I would have to pay out of pocket a minimum of 50.00 a month until I graduated there! I was horrified!!! I told them what they told me before I started and how I didn't want to start if I wasn't covered completely. I was told I had to pay or log out and not login again
pr I would be immideately billed. I was then told they were going to try to work it out and to not dorp the classes until they knew more but to also not log back in intil they did. Big mistake. I did that and a week later I was told my only option was cash payments. I withdrew from the school wiuth them telling me I was cleared and owed no money...not true! I am now still being billed as if I still go there! They tricked me...if you go a week and that happens you are filling a contract to pay the full amount...you just aren't told unless you find it on the site.
Go to
www.ripoffreport.com look up schools on there you are considering and read what people say...take note of complaints and remember the ones praising the school are not always true! And even then many are ok with it but I am not ok with paying for 3 schools and getting no transfer classes...credits or recognition for ever being there!!! All of these schools were online. I gave up on the online programs and I am about to start a local college. Each person has different experiences. There are probably very good online schools but I can't afford to keep trying and not getting through classes...It is far too expensive! Oh an not all degrees transfer or are even recognised in many places or other schools. None of the above schools would have transfered to any on campus schools I considered!!! Anyway you will be good if you research the different schools and read the reports on them...that site covers sooo many schools...online and camous in different directories there!
Good Luck...You will find the one fit for you...I know it because I did! :-)
