Kipper is one of my favorite names as well as the western sounding names such as Cowboy, Dandy, Ruff, Tramp, Chance, or Bandit. I also like Max - our little Rexy was almost Max, but my sister-in-law named their new pup Max, so to avoid confusion, we went with Rex (Rexy).
