Lady may have been bred to young the first time.. You want your female to be mature enough to be able to take care of a litter of puppies! I personally would not have bred her again from the experience of her last litter.. I have a friend that purchased a female to add to her program.. The breeder she purchased the female from had not told her about her first litter.. Well when this female whelped she immediately started to eat the first puppy! My friend and her husband were able to save all but one since the female would practice this habit right after whelping a puppy.. When it was all said and done the breeder they had purchased this female from had also did the same with her first litter! My friend only would let the mother nurse the puppies and she would be right there holding the mother while the puppies nursed.. But that was the only thing they let the mother do.. They spay and placed the mother after this litter.. Please keep us updated on how your female does.. |
