Other things need to be considered besides age and weight. Much more important is social and skilled development and only the breeder can see how that is progressing. In my opinion, one who sells yorkies at 6-8 weeks is really missing the boat and more than likely just doesn't want to be bothered with the extra care needed after that. It's amazing the difference between one at 8 weeks and one at 16 weeks old. I have sold some at 8 weeks, however, they were at least 2.5 pounds and very well adjusted with good development and yorkie skills. Once the puppies are weaned from the mother, doesn't mean they are ready to go anywhere. What takes place after the weaning is amazing to see and just as if not more important than their first 6-8 weeks. The mother actually teaches her babies things that us humans aren't capable of doing.
