Reagan is around 1 1/2 and there is no way we could leave the crate open and her stay in it. I'm always amazed at those pups who go to their cage/pen on their own and sleep. Reagan doesn't like to be within 10 feet of it. She does really well in her cage though, she lays right down and goes to sleep quick and no noise until I get up and start walking around but if it were open she'd be out in a heart beat. As a matter of fact when you go to put her in it you have to walk by our bed and she will try to kick off of you and jump to the bed. We both laugh everytime she does this, which is everytime we put her in her pen. She would do really well at night if she weren't in it, she'd just find a piece of furniture (couch, bed, etc.) to sleep under but I just feel better knowing she's in her pen. Plus I have this fear she's going to get up in the morning before one of us and pee in the floor.
