Duke wears a collar all of the time, but he wears a harness when I take him for walks. His harness is a plaid vest with a D ring on the back that you attach the leash to. I love it because if I have to pick him up quickly I can do so without hurting him. Also, I don't have to worry about hurting his trachea or having him gasp for breath from pulling on a regular leash.
