Are you a dog park person???

If you are thinking about another dog... I would hit the dog park and see how your baby acts around other dogs... look at what types your dog seems to enjoy... older, younger, smaller, bigger... it should give you some insight as to what your baby is ready for.

I would mope too! I'd be pretty lonely! I bet a friend would be good medicine... But make follow the rules... Introduce on neutral ground, keep the smells the same... Bath the new dog in your dogs shampoo, or make arrangements for the dog to be groomed and bring your dogs shampoo... A familliar smell will get the new dog into the club alot quicker! Feed in seperate dishes at first... sure, they might eat out of the same one... but don't force it! You might be setting them up for conflict.

If your baby enjoyed the company of your other dog, then I bet he's missing that companionship now... and will take to a new friend nicely.
