Yesterday was Maddie's first puppy class. A couple in there had a question regarding digging. The trainer said that it's us who teaches our dogs to dig. They learn by watching you dig. Then the trainer proceeded to ask the couple if they have been gardening lately. The couple said no.
Is that true? Do we really teach our dogs to dig? Maddie digs while she plays. My husband and I live in an apartment and have nothing to dig in. In that case how would she explain Maddie when she digs? I always assumed it was a natural instinct.
