If the vet feels comfortable doing it, then I think it would be perfectly fine. The only time I would wait is if the vet says to, or the vet does not feel comfortable doing the surgery until they are older. I think the time frame 7:00 - 12:45 is fine, also. Just make sure when you get him home that he does not jump on any couches or stairs for a couple of days. We got Hobbs fixed at 5.5 months, and he never even acted like he had surgery! He wanted to jump on things and do stairs and it was hard making him be still for a few days, but you have to do it. Hobbs still squats when he pees and he is almost 7 months old now. Ask the vet if he would consider only using gas instead of an IV. With gas, they wake up right after the surgery. With an IV, they are out cold for a couple of hours. I think the safest gas for little dogs is called Isoflourine. Good luck! I am sure everything will be fine. Just do whatever the vet recommends.
