Parker will be 4month old tomorrow. I use a rubber type band in his hair. Well its not rubber but its slick. I use them in my 20month old daughters hair too. They wont break the hair. He too doesnt really sit very still. I put him on top of my washer and give him a few cherrios to keep him busy. I just put the band in first. I dont sit him right down on the floor afterwards. I hold him and give him a few more cherrios then I get a toy and as soon as I put him down, I make a big deal and throw the toy, he runs brings it back to me and by then for some reason, he has forgot all about me doing the pony. after about 20 minutes, I can put a bow in it and he doesnt really seem to mind. I usually take him outside after I do it and we play. Try keeping him busy afterwards and I think it helps. At least it does for Parker. Who also hates to be brushed.
