It sounds like you and your family did all you could do for her. She sounds like she had some major problems in life. The alcoholism is a disease that robs you of the ability to be rational. It blinds you to the truth and to what is important in your life. Don't beat yourself up...there was no way you could help her. She needed professional help. She dealt with her pain the only way she knew how. The fact that she killed her cats tells me that she did not want to leave them behind to face a life in a shelter...she loved them more than anything else in her life. There was just more in her life that she hated than she loved and took the only out she could deal with...I am so sorry for you, your family and her family. |
