Smile Bo is doin' great!!

Hey everyone, just wanted to give you all an update on Bo. He was neutered, had 4 teeth pulled and had a dew claw removed on Tuesday morning. Rough day for the little guy!! He has stitches in his belly that will have to be removed in 10 days. He also has stitches in his leg that will be removed at the same time. Neither of these areas are supposed to get wet. Go figure, it rained all day yesterday and more is predicted for today. I went out earlier and mowed the back yard down real low so it won't rub the stitches on his belly. If I have to take him out in the rain, I'll have to put a zip lock bag over the bandage on his leg so it'll stay dry. Had to do it last night. It didn't work all that well. I'll be able to take that bandage off tomorrow.
Last night I could tell his little mouth was sore cause I can hear him sucking on his gums. I was concerned that he may get them bleeding but didn't ever see any evidence of that. He doesn't seem to be doing that today. Last night he was able to lick a little squeeze cheese off my fingers and I fed him mushed up dog food from a spoon. I was so glad to see that he was hungry. I was careful not to feed him too much. The vet also said to offer ice chips instead of water, cause the water on an empty stomach after surgery came make them throw up. Bo did lick a little bit on an ice cube. I know that a little food will go a long way toward him recovering his strength and healing quickly. I slept on the living room couch last night so I could hear him if he woke up wimpering. I gave him some pain medicine before bed per the vet's instructions. He needed it. He was starting to shiver and cry a little.
Well, I was so glad that I slept close to him because sure enough, about 12:15 he woke me up. He was whining. When I got him out of his crate it seemed he wanted to go out and potty so I grabbed my robe and we went out. The sweet angel needed to go pee and I'm so proud of him for remembering his training even when he was still weak and hurting! After we came in, he was shivering and seemed to be too warm (fever??) but I got him to lick an ice cube a few times for at least a tiny bit of hydration. He wouldn't drink any water. I tried not to speculate he might have fever and just held him for a few minutes and put him back in his crate.
This morning he woke up hungry and raring to go, well sortof. He was barking to be let out. He's since had some green beans and bits of turkey and has been out to potty again. Still hasn't pooped but I'm not worried. Just hope he doesn't get constipated but at this point I'll not borrow trouble. He's still weak and shivers after going outside and sleeps a lot. Woody wonders what's wrong with his play buddy! Anyway, I just wanted to give everyone an update. It's really helped me to re-read posts about pups getting neutered. Bo and I appreciate all your thoughts and prayers so much!
I know this wasn't a serious thing compared to what some have been through recently and don't want to make a big deal out of it. I know I can get pretty wordy in my posts, sorry. I'll shut up in a minute, LOL! :zip: Just thought if this could help someone else I'd go ahead and post it. Thanks again!!
